After breaking onto the scene almost forty years ago with his legendary film Sweet Sweetbackâs Baadasssss Song in 1971, he has gone on to put on Broadway musicals, write books, compose songs, and maintain his reigning title as the founding father of modern African American cinema. His works are equally prolific across all the mediumâs he works within. There is nothing Melvin Van Peebles canât do!
In his latest work, Confessions of a Ex-Doofus ItchyFooted Mutha, Van Peebles depicts a lonely, soul-searching, globetrotterâs quest to find love in all the wrong places.
