Congratulations to COBU, the big winners at Kollaboration NYC 2009! COBU will perform all three days at Bumbershoot, bringing their top notch dancing and drumming with them.
Kollaboration NYC is an annual event and movement that celebrates the vast talents of young Asian Pacific Islander Americans/Canadians, and the lineup brought the sold-out house at Skirball Center down. The night was filled with music, laughs and dancing, and the performers brought their best to compete for the grand prize of $1500!
COBU stole the show (and the gold!) with their fusion of cross-cultural rhythms. Inspired by traditional Japanese culture and the sounds of New York, COBU combines Taiko drumming with tap dancing: a combination that is downright explosive. COBU walked off with the grand prize and left the crowd wanting more.
