blog Ty Blue's Insider Look at Bumbershoot: July 28-July 4
Monday was PARTY-TIME! The Bumbershoot staff members are pros at putting on events, and we were super excited to be a part of last weekendâs Seattle Rock & Roll Marathon. After months of meticulous planning and organizing it was time to celebrate, so a bountiful buffet covered the tables in the Situation Room (…just a wicked awesome name for the large conference room). Thai food and lemon wafers sounds like a weird mix but they were finger-lickinâ good! BTW, congratulations to all of the marathon participants!
How cheerful were the Recess Monkeys at City Hall on Thursday? They reminded me of learning to play on the monkey bars in grade school, but with a jovial ’90s rock edge. The Recess Monkeys playfully swung from musical bar to bar in front of kids, parents and friends, and their family-friendly sound was just as fun as an adult as it would have been back on the playground. I’m a child at heart and the show allowed this undercover ragamuffin a mid-day recess jam session. Thanks guys, I’m ready for s’more songs about chocolatey marshmallows, shout-inducing roller coasters and aqua adventures!
Tomorrow, jump on your bike and pedal down to Gasworks Park for the Chase Family 4th at Lake Union. Enter at the bike gate and chat with me about Independence Day celebration or Bumbershoot. The Army Brat in me canât wait to see the skyline light up with dazzling fireworks. It always brings a tear to my eye (because itâs so spectacular that I donât blink)!
