Before their show on air today, Menomena agreed to answer a few questions with KEXP correspondent Travis Baer:

T: So how did you guys feel like your show went yesterday (Saturday night at the KEXP-sponsored Sound Transit stage)?

M: Oh, great. It is always great when we can get the choir out there.

T: You played SXSW earlier this year — how does plying that festival compare with playing Bumbershoot?

M: Well, SXSW was much more stressful than Bumbershoot. We had less time to load in. It was also one of the craziest times ever. Like a big four-day party.

T: I know you guys wrote a computer program to help you make your music. What exactly does it do?

M: In essence, it works as a loop pedal. The main thing that it does differently is instead of only giving you one track, it allows you to have upwards of twenty different tracks, and you can select which ones are playing at what time. We were poor and didn’t want to pay for professional software so we made our own.

T: What is your guilty pleasure festival food?

M: Corn. That’s the only reason I come here. The bands are “meh” but the corn is great!

Menomena are heading out to Europe later this month but will return for a U.S. tour in October. Check out tour dates at the band’s MySpace page.
