10.30.2009 Akron/Family live from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge
Psych-folk trio Akron/Family specializes in wild divergence from hypnotic romps all the way back to pensive ballads and everywhere in between. Taking cues from campfire spirituals, tribal rhythms and more, the band always excites live. Their trip to the Bumbershoot Music Lounge was no exception.
Check out video below of two of the more raucous numbers in the band's catalog: "The River" from this year's Set 'em Wild, Set 'em Free and "Ed Is a Portal" from Love Is Simple.

Akron/Family’s “River” has a familiar post-rock sound in its experimental folk rock vibe. It starts with maracas and leads listeners through the song with a multitude of instruments along the way (you’ll hear something new with each listen, including light whistling or what sounds like crackling vinyl). Known for their “weird” ways of creating sound, catchy songs like “River” show the fruits of their labor and musical talent.
