Every great TV show has one. Baseball’s 7th inning has one. Pro wrestlers each have one. Heck, even my bologna has one! All great things require a truly great theme song… and now Bumbershoot wants in on the action. Write, perform and video a theme song for Bumbershoot, and be our favorite rock star! In the spirit of Sara Bynoe’s F**k Off & Die: Tales in Teen Angst Poetry, we turn to BumberFans for their most heartfelt teenaged writings. This month, Bumbershoot and ReadyMade are presenting a MacGyver Challenge exclusively here on bumbershoot.org. The item to repurpose? Old CD jewel cases! Refashion this old plastic into something useful or beautiful, and share the step-by-step instructions with us.
If we and ReadyMade find your design the most awesome of the bunch, we’ll reward you not only with a pair of Gold passes to Bumbershoot 2008, but a bicycle so you can arrive at the Festival in eco-style! Oh! And a year subscription to ReadyMade!

Love writing a witty haiku? Put your talents to good use, and win Bumbershoot stuff! It’s so easy…
All you have to do is add your haiku to Bumbershoot’s Facebook wall. Then, tell us about it by filling out the simple registration form. That’s it! Every Monday through August 11 we will announce the week’s best haiku on our page.
Weekly winners will receive a limited edition Bumbershoot 2008 official poster, and one grand prize winner will receive a pair of 3-day passes to this year’s Bumbershoot, August 30–September 1 at Seattle Center.

08.17.2007 Bumbershoot's Got Talent! Do you?
Calling all performers in the Seattle area! This is your chance to be a part of the famous Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival. “Bumbershoot’s Got Talent” is a variety show that is looking for everyone who has a 3-minute act ready to be seen by industry professionals and our panel of celebrity judges. Music, juggling, tumbling, sword swallowing, magic and anything you can do in 3 minutes – we want to see it!
Compete to be crowned “Bumbershoot’s Most Talented Without Exception!”
To apply, please send a short description of your act, including number of performers and any instrumentation to programming (at) onereel.org. Write “Bumbershoot’s Got Talent” in the subject line. All acts selected to audition will receive further information via email.
Deadline to submit is Monday, August 27. Auditions will be held in Seattle on Friday, August 31. If selected, you must be able to perform 3pm – 4pm all days of the Festival (Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3.)

Theme: “What is Bumbershoot?”
Bumbershoot is Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival, of course. And the largest festival of its kind in North America. But what is it to YOU? Yes, the theme is wiiiiiide open in order to allow you to reflect the diverse and creative spirit of the Festival. Maybe you’ll create a micro-documentary, an old-fashioned song and dance routine or an animated short. Or if you’re feeling really ambitious, you might turn out a full-blown production complete with mind-bending plot twists and a surprise ending. Whatever it is, we want to see it and we want you to share it.
