At every angle, “Blessed Be, Honey Bee” by Grand Hallway is talent-filled catchy-pop while being uniquely progressive. It isn’t J-pop by any means, but Tomo Nakayama’s voice does give it “J-Sub-Pop” vibe when mixed with the country Japanese-folk guitar riff that starts the track. 06.16.2008 Download: "Time Without You" by Dale Watson

With bass vocals, slide guitar and fiddles, this song is honky-tonk-tastic. Dale Watson plays classic country music that’s at the very top of its game. A true original, Dale’s even coined his own genre: Ameripolitan (as he defines it on Wikipedia: original music with ‘prominent’ roots influence.) Note: This song may precipitate the purchase of boots.

06.09.2008 Download: "The Great Salt Lake" by Band of Horses

Another soaring, dreamy, indie gem from Sub Pop luminaries Band of Horses. This song is off their 2006 release Everything All the Time, not to be confused with their most recent effort, Cease to Begin, which has been flying off store shelves since October. Oh, yeah, also this song is awesome.

RIYL: The Shins, Siberian, Nada Surf
