06.10.2009 Get Ready for Bumbershoot's Visual Arts!
Art is everywhere… Seattle has amazing art museums, galleries and is even home to a beautiful sculpture park. But we don’t stop there. Art appears on the side of buildings… covering cars… even the doodle you did on your notepad the other day is your take on artistic expression (some of your finest work, by the way). True to the city, Bumbershoot abounds with art both in classic gallery settings as well as unique site-specific installations and spontaneous artistic expressions.

Many a musical career starts with small audiences, impromptu performances, and late night mutterings. These soulful and spirited evenings are a return to those days.

Today’s featured blog comes from the Oliver Family. The Olivers of Capitol Hill are an eclectic bunch: dad Mike fixes antique clocks, mom Carol is working on the 787 for Boeing, son Nigel helps run the local Greenpeace office, and Pete will be a freshman at Nova next year. The youngest girls, Syd and Mary, are just chillin’ out this summer and are excited to be doing such fun art with the rest of their family.
The Olivers have finished all 63 assignments from Miranda July’s Learning to Love You More online art project. The entire collection can be seen at Bumbershoot in the Northwest Rooms, 11 AM – 8 PM daily.
